Introduction:

We are working hard on getting Human Generator ready for beta testing, but in the mean time we wanted to give you an update on some of the features.

In this Developer Diary we take a look at (facial) hair for Human Generator. The facial hair will give you a good idea of how hair will work in Human Generator, full hair styles will be shown at a later date.

Choosing and loading hair styles:

You choose a hairstyle from a list of icons and this hairstyle will then be imported and added to your human.

Hair settings:

Of course you want to be able to customize these styles to your liking. Firstly you can change the length of the individual parts of each hairstyle. Each part of the style gets its own slider in the UI. Also keep in mind that these hairstyles are all Blender particle systems, allowing you to go into their settings and change them even further.

Besides the properties of the actual hairs, the material also plays an important role in the appearance of the hairstyle.

Human Generator uses a separate hair material for Eyebrows & Eyelashes, Facial hair and “regular” hair. By changing the lightness and redness, you can achieve almost any natural hair color with ease.

You can also use “Effects” to create more specific results. For now the two available effects are pepper & salt and a different root color.

Example of pepper & salt effect:

Sharing/selling your own hair styles!

Human Generator will make it possible to make your own hairstyles and combine them into a pack. You will be able to share these “content packs” and also sell them to other users. Stay tuned to hear what other aspects of Human Generator can be customized via content packs.
